You know you want it, baby

I personally quite enjoy the Big Bash. It’s good fun and a great way to raise profile of cricket which I am totally all for.

Just in case your NYE induced coma has lasted a bit longer than expected, allow me. Chris Gayle, an international cricket star who plays for one of the Big Bash teams, was in a live on air interview with journo for channel 10, Mel McLaughlin, on Monday night. He took this opportunity to make a very clumsily executed pass at her, as follows:

“I wanted to come and have an interview with you as well,”

“That’s the reason why I’m here, just to see your eyes for the first time. It’s nice so …

“Hopefully we can win this game and have a drink after. Don’t blush baby.”

Totes squirm worthy. I know it was intended to be harmless and a joke but the journo concerned obviously didn’t think it was that funny – so the intention is a bit irrelevant. And before anyone accuses me of having lost my sense of humour, think about how you would feel if someone propositioned you like that infront of a million people when you are trying to work. Pretty gross, right?

(If it had been me, I would have said ‘lol, only in your dreams, baby’. At least I hope I would.)

Yeah, there are totally instances of people going OTT over stuff like this, PC gone mad, etc. I don’t find the comments offensive, just a bit dicky. And he would have known it was a bit dicky too.

In my humble opinion, the real point of this is the fact it was in front of so many people.  Of course we should be able to compliment each other, of course a man should be able to ask a woman out – but it’s not like they were having a private conversation at the bar.

Chris, don’t be a cock, huh?
